FOODY BREAKS IN ST IVES

St Ives has a wide range of restaurants from cosy pubs to one awarded 10 out of 10 by the Telegraph’s Food Critic (his first ever “10”!).

Venture out of St Ives and celebrity chefs Rick Stein and Jamie Oliver’s restaurants are worth a visit.

In St Ives

Porthminster Café:   On the beach and awarded 10 out of 10 by the Telegraph – Well worth a visit.

The Loft:   Scallops/sea bass/beef and puddings to die for (a guest’s quote, not ours).

The Sloop:   The most famous pub in St Ives and right on the waterfront, good wholesome food and great beers.

Seafood Café:   Great fresh fish – no menu, just pick what’s available from the ice counter.

The Digey:   As you wander round the shops of St Ives, make time to visit The Digey Café (closes at 5pm) - wonderful home made soups (leek, ham and potato is our favourite), some of the best bacon sandwiches available (bacon from the Cornish Pig Company) and lots of interesting options.

Padstow (now known as "Padstein")

Rick Stein’s
Seafood Restaurant:
is just an hour’s drive away. Excellent food for lunch or dinner.

Rick Stein’s
Fish & Chip Shop:
is ideal for lunch – definitely a step up from your local chippy!

Zennor

The Gurnard’s Head Pub:   has been named the Cornish dining pub of the year in The Good Pub Guide for 2011 (its second time).

Watergate Bay

Fifteen Cornwall:   Jamie Oliver’s South West offering – good reports but we haven’t been ourselves yet.

In between the food, St Ives has wonderful beaches and there are many lovely walks in the area. You may need some of these if you attempt to eat in all of the recommended restaurants!
